ImmersiveTouch®-SENSIMMER® designs and produces a patented augmented virtual reality system and haptically-enabled software for use in both open and percutaneus procedures, as well as for microsurgical procedures. The Company currently offers multispeciality simulations along with haptic anatomical explorations for targeting and feeling areas of interest, such as tumors and pedicles. Force feedback takes virtual reality beyond the visual to the tactile domain; from a limited interaction to a hands-on workbench for training and simulation. Areas covered include procedures in neurosurgery, spinal surgery, ophthalmology, general surgery, ENT, anesthesiology, orthopedics and others.

Studies have shown that surgeons trained on simulators perform better and have higher retention rates than those trained with traditional methods. In addition to noticeable performance increases, simulation training is more time efficient and less costly than cadaver training, and provides the opportunity to store and compare statistics globally.

The ImmersiveTouch®-SENSIMMER® is a next generation system that integrates a haptic device with a head and hand tracking system and a high-resolution, high-pixel-density stereoscopic display. Unlike alternative systems, ImmersiveTouch real-time electromagnetic system tracks the user head position and orientation to display the correct user-centered stereoscopic perspective. This guarantees that true graphics and haptics collocation is achieved, even when looking at the 3D scene from different angles. While other simulators are limited by software design constraints in both content and multi-specialty compatibility, Immersive Touch has a designed functionality to upload new modules for multi-purpose use and continuous improvement.

Additional Product Information

A half-silvered mirror is used to recreate an augmented reality environment that integrates the user's hands and the virtual 3D models in a common working volume. Unlike alternative systems, a monitor displays a horizontally flipped image, so screen messages, menus and buttons reflected on the mirror can be read normally, facilitating the development of the VR applications on the same workstation.

A real-time electromagnetic system tracks the user's head position and orientation to display the correct user-centered stereoscopic perspective. This guarantees that true graphics and haptics collocation is achieved even when looking at the 3D scene from different angles. In addition, hand tracking allows users to use both hands to interact with the virtual scene. While they can feel tactile sensations with the hand holding the haptic stylus, they can use the tracked hand to move the 3D objects, manipulate lights, or define clipping planes in the same 3D working volume.
