Introducing ImmersiveView: the Future of Planning, Consultation, and Training


We are proud to announce the launch of ImmersiveView. This turnkey virtual reality solution will revolutionize surgical planning by transforming patient-specific MRI and CT scan data into fully-realized 3D models that can be explored collaboratively in a virtual space. Having received 510(k) clearance from the FDA this year, ImmersiveView is available now for use in hospitals and universities, and also for partnership with medical device companies. We can’t wait to help surgeons plan more effectively and improve outcomes for patients everywhere.


ImmersiveView Capabilities

DICOM-to-VR within 30 seconds:

While we have been able to custom-produce virtual reality models of specific patients for some time, the process was expensive and time-consuming. With ImmersiveView, we can take any standard DICOM or PAC dataset created by a CT scan or MRI, and convert the file from a useful 3D render to a state-of-the-art 3D model in virtual space. It’s near-instant, and fully automatic, requiring no subsequent user input or modification.


Unrestricted Surgery Options:

Because ImmersiveView uses standard medical industry data, any surgery that includes an MRI or a CT scan can be planned in its virtual environment. Every detail of organ tissue, bones, and blood vessels that is visible in MRIs and CT scans is faithfully recreated in ImmersiveView.


Fully Immersive OR Viewing:

Once a scan has been converted to the virtual environment, all you need is VR hardware to be in the room with it. It exists in space with you, either as a 1:1 scale model, or enlarged for more specific viewing. Explore the surface, or delve into specific anatomical structures to visualize and plan surgical approaches like never before.

Surgery Planning:

By getting an in-depth, fully-realized look at a specific patient in an immersive 3D environment, surgeons can plan their operations around the exact anatomy they’ll be working with. Whether it’s planning for complications around the vessels feeding a tumor, or practicing their step-by-step motions in a safe simulation, a surgeon can go into an operation with full confidence of ImmersiveView’s accuracy. This also prevents the need for the time and cost of 3D printing static physical models for planning.


Patient Consultation:

Even with a thorough explanation in layman’s terms and a printout of scans, the concept and process of surgical procedures can be incomprehensible to patients. And what isn’t understood can be all the more frightening. With ImmersiveView, patients can explore and walk through the plan with their surgeon, giving them clarity while reducing anxiety. Patients can ask more informed questions and participate in the final decision making, ultimately leading to greater patient consent, satisfaction, and surgical conversion rates.


Resident Training:

Implemented in hospitals with resident surgeons, ImmersiveView enables greater understanding and confidence for every single operation, and safer patient outcomes too. Rather than 3D printing a model or staring at a screen and clicking around an object, residents can familiarize themselves with the exact size and internal workings of everything they’ll be observing or operating on. Most important is the scale - many residents can prepare using the same patient data simultaneously, and review many similar cases to understand patient-specific variations.
